WINNERS : The Butts Farm Shop has been awarded the BEST FARM SHOP by the "Cotswold Life Food and Drinks Awards" 2009
We would like to take this opportunity to thank everybody who voted for us. During May and June 2009 readers were invited to recommend their favourite food producers, suppliers, retailers, restaurants and hoteliers either by post or online. Judges then had to whittle down the hundreds of nominations received to three finalists in each category each of who were invited to the awards ceremony held on 14th September, 2009 at the Cotswold Water Park Four Pillars Hotel.
Butts Farm Win Gold - 2009!We have won a Gold Star award in the Great Taste Awards 2009 for our Gloucestershire Old Spot Pork Chops, and a Gold Star for our Country Pate.
Butts Farm Win Gold again in 2008Once again the Butts Farm Shop has scooped another Great Taste Award this time for our Curried Mutton Sausage! Yes that's right curried mutton. It has been awarded a three star gold award in the national 2008 Great Taste Awards. We are overjoyed as we were selected for the last eight nationwide. A superb achievement for a humble sausage. The Butts Farm Sausages have gone from strength to strength - come in a try some or place an order on line. Butts Farm Win GOLD in 2007
Less than 5 years after opening we are ecstatic to announce we have now received 5 awards, the latest are for our Duck, Cranberry & Orange Sausages and Oak Smoked Air Dried Streaky Bacon - both have received gold awards status in the GREAT TASTE AWARDS 2007. We were the only producer to receive gold for all products entered. Butts Farm Win GOLD in 2006We are very pleased again to win Gold at the Taste of the West Food and Drink Awards 2006. This year for our own Welsummer eggs. Double Gold for New Venture at the Butts Farm - 2005The well known rare breeds farm that has been opening its gates to visitors for 14 years now has two very good reasons to celebrate, as well as a right royal treat in store. Judy Hancox and Gary Wallace opened the Farm Shop at The Butts Farm less than two years ago. It has won a Gold award in the county round of the Taste of the West Food and Drink Awards 2005.The good news does not end there; just days later came the letter declaring the Dry Cured Oak Smoked Back Bacon was a Gold Great Taste Award 2005 winner. "We are so pleased with this achievement as we home cure and smoke our bacon from our own Gloucestershire Old Spots pigs" says partner and Master Butcher Gary Wallace. They now automatically go forward to the final judging stages to decide the winners of the major awards, including the regional and national winners and finally, the Great Taste Awards Supreme Champion 2005. This will be announced in the Great taste Awards area at the Speciality & Fine Food Fair, Olympia in September, where a sample of their bacon will be on display. "It's a bit of a cliff hanger, we are keeping our fingers firmly crossed" Judy declares. The Farm Shop has been very popular with families when visiting the farm to see the wide variety of animals as well as drawing in local connoisseurs who want to not only ensure their food is totally British but also to know where in Britain it has come from. "Although it involved a huge commitment and a lot of work it seemed to be the obvious way to go" says Gary, "with Judy's farming abilities and my butchering skills we thought our farm shop would do well, but to achieve this amount of success and popularity so soon is just wonderful." The farm shop sells a wide variety of produce specialising in its own and locally produced meat and eggs, with fruit, veg, yogurt, honey, and cheese off the Cotswolds. It is also proud to be a Rick Stein food hero.
